THE DXA MAP PROJECT
A HRB funded project
PROJECT AIM
The project aim is to validate and integrate osteoporosis and fracture-risk prediction models for a national programme for osteoporosis management
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
- DEVELOP new osteoporosis screening/testing strategies and corresponding optimum threshold for early osteoporosis identification
- COMPARE two fracture risk assessment tools (FRAX and QFracture) for risk of osteoporosis related fractures
- DESIGN & VALIDATE a patient-informed personalised DXA MAP tool underpinned by AI, recommended diagnostic criteria, reference standards and visualisation approaches to support osteoporosis, fracture and multi-morbidity/mortality risk prediction, clinical interpretation and clinical-patient communication
